The Raconteurs - Steady As She GoesI have decided to use a video from the band The Raconteurs as I think these are a good example of an Indie band. Their music videos follow the Indie-Rock codes and conventions. Especially within this particular video. It is mainly a performance based video, including the band playing their own instruments.
The setting seems to be on a farm, and throughout the video, shots of the different rooms are shown, this doesn't really link with the genres stereotypes.
There is a slight relationship between the lyrics and the visuals; at the beginning of the video the lyric is ''find yourself a girl, and settle down'', while the artist is singing this there are a sequence of shots shown - including shots of a kitchen and bedroom. Most of the video is performance based, however the video is a little narrative as the lead singer seems to be singing about settling down with someone in a house, which possibly could have farm land with it, as shots of cows are shown during the video. There is a slight relationship between the music and the visuals because when the music becomes more upbeat, the artists within the band start to move around more. There are no voyeuristic references within the video.
Most of the filming techniques include close ups, which are mainly of the lead singers face or the band members instruments (guitars). These ASL's are used to make sure the audience sees the bands instrumental talents. However, there are very few long shots which show the whole band.

A good analysis and i am pleased you hyperlinked the music video. It has a concept element as well, you could look at some of the signs and signifiers in this too. Also relate it to your own production ideas and how you may use some of the techniques seen. The editing is also quite interesting.
